INTRODUCTION

The NG-CDF South Imenti Project Management Committee Training was held on 21st May, 2026 at NG-CDF South Imenti Hall.

The objective was to equip PMC members with the knowledge and skills required for effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of NG-CDF projects in line with the NG-CDF Act, 2015 and Board Regulations.

02 Attendance

 

The training was officially opened by Mr Julius Mwiti, Chairman NG-CDF South Imenti, and facilitated by:

 

  • Peggy Karanja, NG-CDF Fund Manager, South Imenti..
  • NG-CDF Committee Members.
  • PMC members from all wards in South Imenti.
  • Zuhura R. Mambo, Deputy County Commissioner, Igoji Sub-county.

▸   Enhance understanding of PMC roles and responsibilities.

▸   Strengthen capacity in project planning, procurement, and financial management.

▸   Improve monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of NG-CDF projects.

▸   Promote transparency, accountability and community participation.

  • Overview of NG-CDF Act, 2015 and PMC mandate.
  • Project cycle management: identification, appraisal, implementation and closure.
  • Procurement procedures and adherence to PPDA guidelines.
  • Financial management, record keeping, and audit requirements.
  • Monitoring and evaluation tools for NG-CDF projects.
  • Community engagement and grievance handling mechanisms.

05 Key Remarks

 

Julius Mwiti —  NGCDFC Chairperson

Emphasized that well-trained PMCs are critical for delivery of quality projects. Urged members to uphold integrity and ensure projects benefit the intended communities.

 

Peggy Karanja —  Fund Manager

Highlighted common challenges in project implementation and stressed the need for timely reporting and proper documentation to avoid audit queries. She also reassured PMCs of the office’s support throughout the project cycle.

 

Zuhura R. Mambo —  Deputy County Commissioner

Called on PMCs to apply the skills gained to improve project execution and to maintain open communication with the NG-CDF office.

06 Recommendations

 

  • Conduct refresher trainings annually for all PMCs.
  • Provide PMCs with simplified manuals and reporting templates.
  • Strengthen supervision and technical support from the NG-CDF office.
  • Ensure wider community involvement in project identification and monitoring.

 

07 Conclusion

 

The training was interactive and well received. Participants expressed appreciation and committed to applying the knowledge gained to enhance delivery of NG-CDF projects in South Imenti. Peggy Karanja reaffirmed the office’s commitment to support PMCs throughout the project cycle.
